Welcome back to another edition of the SPHB Magazine. Apologize for the delay in publishing this week's edition. Thank you to all contributors, please give us feedback, and as always, if anyone is interested in contributing do not hesitate to reach out to myself or montskar.

Division 1 Power Rankings
by DJ Khaled

I figured I would switch up the format of power rankings this week. Below is a to-date version of the power rankings, including the Week 4 power rankings and a final category of "ranking by roster," or the rankings of the teams if every player on their team played at their best with 100% activity.

SPHB Player Profiles - negativeBro
by DJ Khaled

DJ Khaled: Thanks for agreeing to be interviewed neg. So letís just start off with the go-to ďhowíd you first get into haxball?Ē

negativeBro: I had quit WoW and was hanging out in skype with a friend I knew from the game for a while and he linked me it early 2011. We 1v1'd and I loved it and proceeded to no life that game instead of WoW.

DJ Khaled: Nice. So what led into the transition into SPHB and did you have any major influences when you started playing?

negativeBro: Well as most know I started in west coast pub rooms playing random games with the same ~8-10 people who then decided to form the Pacific Haxball League. The first season of our league was around ssn3 of SPHB. When I first started playing haxball my influences were my peers that I was competing against in Ghost, HK, JRi, and Donovan. Later on I found out about SPHB and started watching and slowly playing against players like Nikka P, SirDgbyChknCsr, Dr. Rad, Goober, and Az. around Ssn15 I had come back to the game after a long break and PHL was basically dead, so I pubbed more in SPHB rooms and later decided to join the league and play with JRi who I had previously played PHL with.

DJ Khaled: Looking over your SPHB career, you have some really impressive accomplishments. 4 Division 1 Cups, Season 15 D1 ROTY, Season 22 OPOTY, and a Hall of Fame induction. Pretty impressive for anyone, especially since you donít have the 15+ seasons of playing experience like some of the other players known as ďgreats.Ē Can you think of any specific teams or moments that you cherished the most?

negativeBro: well, although I don't have 15 seasons in SPHB, I have been playing at a competitive level basically since the game release, just in a different league. As far as specific moments that I cherished the most, winning my first SPHB cup in season 17 was the best feeling. Although, I've been lucky to have a lot of great memories over the 4 cup seasons with the Tsunami franchise. Also, shoutout to the nations cup team which was a great experience.

DJ Khaled: So what made you want to sign up again after a 4 season break at the start of this season?

negativeBro: wuhl, I may have been drinking and thought it would be fun to randomly sign up and see what happened. I also really enjoy playoff haxball and find the regular season to be long and pointless.

DJ Khaled: So if the league were to implement more offseason or maybe even midseason weekend tournaments, most likely PYOT or some other fun random thing, would that be something that would interest you?

negativeBro: well y don't you tell me. I don't think my preferences are a reflection of the leagues. That sort of thing wouldn't interest me at all, it is just more stuff that isn't playoff haxball. If I want pyot in the offseason I'll just join a good pub

DJ Khaled: Thats a fair statement. Looking into the future of the league, is there anything you specifically would change?

negativeBro: well y don't you tell me, you are the commish. I think wayne had the best system, but it's too much trouble to go through all that pt1 bullshit again. I would say pyot, but again I don't think I am the voice of the majority by any means and people have logical arguments against it.

DJ Khaled: What's your advice to some of the newer players in the league? To those first time D2 players who some day hope to reach similar achievements you've gotten to.

negativeBro: That they missed the golden era of haxball and few people that are good at the game care enough anymore to watch them be awful in pubs or help them improve. Their best bet is to play the game all day long and if they have a brain + any competitive bone in their body they can watch players better than them and then try real hard to beat them. One thing I'll say is positioning goes a long way and you can find guides by dgby, myself, lindros, Bshh, el diabo, nikka scattered around the website focusing on basic fundamentals. I think rkd had a good write up somewhere too.

DJ Khaled: Do you have any final things you'd like to say to the /sp/ Haxball league or give shoutouts to a few certain individuals?

negativeBro: wuhl, iono bout that dud. I guess that Halliburton orchestrated the BP oil spill, Dick Cheney stood to gain so y don't you tell me about tower 7 and how it was just demolished and there were explosives in the building so y don't you tell me. so what say you about that?

Off topic article: An Introduction to Cryptocurrency
By tgfp

Bitcoin. Youíve probably heard of it and have a vague idea of what it is. Some sort of Internet money you can maybe buy drugs with on Tor or something, right? Itís something thatís been around for quite a few years now but youíve never really taken the time to understand or look into it. Well, throw out every preconceived notion that you have of it right now.

Disclaimer: I do not have an extensive background in computer science but I do know a good opportunity when I see one. Maybe youíve heard of someone that became rich off of Bitcoin after holding it for several years. These instances are far and few between, but the good news is that there is still time to get into the cryptocurrency market. In fact, it is really just beginning.

Below is a graph of the total market cap of cryptocurrencies.

As you can see it has begun to take off in the last few months. Iíve only been in the game since April, but Iíve seen very good returns. I took on an interest in cryptocurrency by chance as I stumbled onto /biz/ one day. Though the community can be fanatic and downright delusional at times, the people there are generally cool and Iíd say with some chagrin that 4chan has given me some of the best financial advice I have ever received.

By chance again, I happened to see one night in Arrowchat that @DJ Khaled had also invested in Bitcoin and Ethereum (another cryptocurrency). From there, we began to talk every day about the latest crypto investments and how to turn profits, both short-term and long-term. Recently @Naipe has joined our group (we have both a Kik chat and a Discord) and he too can vouch on the potential financial gains to be had here.

How does the technology behind bitcoin itself work? To distill it down very simply, and anyone more knowledgeable please feel free to correct me, bitcoin aims to function as a decentralized currency (i.e. free of control from centralized banks and government parties such as the Federal Reserve). By establishing a controlled supply (the number of bitcoins that can ever exist is limited and capped), it is protected from artificial inflation by any one entity. To ensure this, bitcoin operates on a system known as a blockchain. This scary word is really just a term for an online ledger, an entire history of all the transactions that have ever taken place using bitcoins. For example, the transaction of User A sending 20 bitcoins to User B and User B receiving 20 bitcoins from User A would be logged and added to the blockchain through a process called mining. Mining is an intensive process through which a computer solves complex cryptographic, mathematical problems in order to add the transaction to the blockchain. When enough miners confirm the transaction, it is added to the public blockchain and everyone would be able to verify that User A did in fact send 20 bitcoins to User B and User B did receive 20 bitcoins from User A. This record is permanent and secure. The miners themselves are eventually rewarded bitcoins for adding transactions and contributing to the blockchain.

The entire process is much more complex than Iíve made it out to be, and you can definitely read up on it as it is very interesting stuff. But from a purely financial standpoint, cryptocurrencies are currently a very powerful investment vehicle. It is not unusual to double, triple or even 10x your capital overnight. Sure, a lot of it is speculative, but I believe many companies will look toward blockchain technology in the future as a means to carry out private, secure transactions. Many big players such as JP Morgan and Microsoft have already taken interest in Ethereum, which is seen in the crypto community as Bitcoinís #1 competitor.

Anyway, this post is probably longer than it should be and so Iíll wrap up by saying that investing in cryptocurrencies could be a life-changing decision. Personally Iíve seen some very nice returns in the investments I have made so far. We are still in the early stages of blockchain technology, and as the world becomes more computerized itís hard to imagine a future in which some of these platforms are not integrated in some way.

If anyone wants to learn more or join our investment group, just contact @DJ Khaled, @Naipe or myself. If you have Kik weíll add you, and we can switch over to Discord depending on the general preference of the group. I hope you consider joining us and making what could be easy and life-changing money. If there is enough interest, Iíll make a thread detailing step-by-step exactly how to get into cryptocurrency investing. Also, join the SPHB biz discord server, where we specifically discuss cryptos, trading, and potential: https://discord.gg/A9SUtne

>"down"
>you just lost $12,000
> I lost $600 (20%)

more like the market is getting ass blasted and we're both googling how to tie a noose

but yeah newcomers this is your chance while it's dipping
as for everyone else who was already in and lost a huge percentage of their gains....  (wall)
