What a regular season SPHB. This has been a hectic season, but so many teams and so many players have improved from day one. I can't thank everyone enough for their great attitudes for the majority of the season. I'd just like to take this moment to give my synopsis on the season. Hashbrowns and I were obviously throw into a brand new situation for the both of us. There's no need to give excuses, but obviously we made mistakes. Thankfully, we, and myself especially, learned from those mistakes. It's no secret that I haven't been here since season 5 of 12 or whatever. This was my fifth season of SPHB, but it was certainly still enjoyable. I really hope to improve next season. I can't make anyone like me as a player, GM, or a commissioner, but I can do better to make sure that everyone here is treated fairly at all times and that your voices are heard among staff. I know the community of SPHB isn't very welcoming, often is toxic, and loves the oldfag mentality, but I have to say there's been plenty of glimpses of the complete opposite of these stereotypes this season. Going forward, I hope that the league can flourish with an active player base and minimal cancer. As for the SPHB Magazine, we've successfully lasted a season. I hope that everyone enjoyed reading these as much as I did making them, but I certainly cannot take the credit for it. It was montskar's idea, and he really helped get the ball rolling on our project to revive league activity through a variety of ways. He will be introducing his own offseason tournament after the completion of this season's playoffs, which should be exciting as well. Breadman and his interviews have also been a great help. All the other writers for the SPHB Magazine deserve the commendation of the entire league. Please recognize the following SPHB members for their valued contributions to the SPHB Magazine, without them, who knows if we'd be able to publish an edition each week: montskar, Breadman, Gleg, Geoff, Ovechkin, Naipe, Gleg, TDA, tgfp, negativeBro, GatZ Chamberlain, Nap, Prizzle, and Atticus. Next season, I hope there is enough interest to continue the SPHB Magazine, possibly with the contributions of even more people. Until then, please enjoy our final SPHB Magazine for Season 27 - The Playoff Edition.

We all know this regular season team is much different from its playoff team. My projected starting lineup is pixels gk, lindros mid, nikka and neg fwd. So while Myles had an impressive and SPHB record holding GAA, it's difficult to see him start these playoffs unless someone doesn't show (nikka) and pixels moves to forward. This team's regular season went as expected for the most part, however it's important to notice that the Squares beat them in a great matchup 2-1 earlier this week. Could it be indicative of how these playoffs will go?Preseason  - First

Based on current performance, I'd say that the gunmen have the two best forwards in SPHB right now. Compass is playing out of his mind, perhaps the jefe - diablo playing styles are wearing off on him. El Diablo is having an MVP worthy season, possibly the best I've ever seen him play (not saying much though, I only remember have seen him play the last two seasons). Fruit and Jefe are strong enough to compete with the Unicornz, so honestly I don't think the cup is a gimme for any team. Preseason  - Third

Whats not to like about the Squares. They're a very likable group of guys being dudes (if you can comment what this reference is from I'll give you arrow chat mod for 30 seconds. Also a test to see if anyone actually reads the write ups because they take forever). Anyways, T90 is doing great at mid, and Hashbrowns has been doing well with whoever he's being partnered with. StaR was his pick most of the season after T90 joined the team, although I really like tgfp's play style and can see him as the starter. Undr is a clear MVP contender in net for this team. These guys show up 20 minutes each night, play the game, and go home...and some of their regular season losses make this extremely clear. Maybe they'll do the same for the playoffs, but expect them to go deep in each series they play.Preseason  - Second

The Keys finished the season of a high note with two wins, although both games looked pretty flat. With Red being placed on the disabled list, the team loses a key (heh) starter. The team has a new look from the start of the season, and while they lost to both the Unicornz and Gunmen earlier this week, each game was by one goal. They beat the Squares week 5, so do not count this team out. They aren't underdogs necessarily but they're taking the fact that they aren't the favorites to heart. Preseason  - Fourth

It sounds like a broken record, but if this team's players all had east coast USA ping, they'd play lights out and be true contenders going forward. That being said, they had an awesome season under Flossy. Flossy was able to develop great players from his initial draft, trade them for other high value players, and create a Euro Invasion, true to their European team name (Nemea is Greek for all those wondering...so no one). They squeezed their way into the playoffs following a win over the NYHC.Preseason  - Seventh

OSCIM had probably one of his best seasons at mid. Everyone is looking at scott and Yasssss on this team, and while I agree that they each had fantastic season on their own, I think it stems from OSCIM. OSCIM's defense is up there with any top mid in D1. His goalkeepers always have low GAAs regardless if they play like it (see players like Gleg in season 25). His offense isn't lights out but with forward combinations of  Scott, Warky, or Gballer, they can handle their own. I'm not sure why he traded for Ren with Yassss in net and yew as a backup already. Keeping Cookie was also a questionable move, but active players are active players. Also, yes, it is the league staff's sworn duty to intentionally hurt OSCIM's team.Preseason  - Eighth

I find it a shame that this team couldn't find long term success. They had a great group of guys all season, and while they did not make the playoffs, they made it close until the last day and had fun doing it. Honestly I commend them on their overall season for the most part. Special shout outs to all the old players that signed up for the first time in a couple of seasons thanks to this west coast brotherhood. Team PHL lives on.Preseason  - Seventh

I think this team suffered from not enough trades and despite multiple offers. Luciano's team saw multiple glimpses of greatness, specifically in some great matches vs the Lions, Gunmen, and Unicornz, but weren't able to pull through enough to make a solid dent in D1. They have the relegation series coming up and it should be exciting.Preseason  - Fifth

SPHB Player Profiles - Prizzle
By Breadman.

BreadMan: Welcome and thank you for doing this interview Prizzle. I know the people have been asking for more interviews. So how did you come to find out about haxball and SPHB?

Prizzle: Like a few people I found haxball through goallineblitz. We mostly played 1v1/2v2 tournaments, but after I got better than everyone else I sought out competition/a league and found SPHB. I joined shortly before we moved over to the new website. Outside of playing against people on glb we used to play 1v1 tournaments with people from Starcraft like Mouton, Kobe, WCK, Wayne, and a couple of others.

BreadMan: I remember the days on SPHB where I had to make free the tree threads to get you unbanned on the forum. How have you changed from then to now?

Prizzle: Well I guess just got older and mellowed out a bit. My original ban was pretty bull shit anyway, essentially because GOAT didnt like me. I'll never forget your efforts in the FTT campaign breadman and our legendary season 5 oregon trails team.

BreadMan: You've bounced around from team to team this season. How are you liking your current situation?

Prizzle: Well I basically got held hostage and used as a piece to move players from seals to pixies due to their collusion. Its a pretty good situation since I played this role before with the namis in season 22 and have chem with 09 in case wayne for example ever got ddos'd. Mainly though looking to finally play GK in the league which I've felt for a long time now has been my best position.

BreadMan: Do you see your team making a long run in the playoffs?

Prizzle: I think the best matchup might end up being the keys-unicorns early on, depending on what lineup the gunmen use and what form they come into playoffs with. Right now keys need me or 09 to unrust and up our game from GK and for red to mix in defensively with wayne and nantes, though i think hes been pretty good on offense. Right now its pretty much the unicorns are the huge favorite for the cup, though they are dependent on some players showing up. Would be pretty huge choke job if they didnt make the finals. Keys definitely have the potential to make a run however.

BreadMan: Getting back to the start of your haxball career. What were some players you aspired to be like or maybe players who you looked to for advice early on?

Prizzle: I think the only person I ever asked to analyze my game was ADV when I was on princes in season 5. I mean I guess you pick things up watching players play but I've had my best success in this league when I've tried to play the game my way and not force a playstyle. My style has always been more of a team style anyway and thats the true way to play mid(be on the lookout for my guide of how to play mid in the offseason - the complete edition). I never really aspired to be any other player either anyway. I've put up better numbers and taken down players considered better with worse players.

BreadMan: What have been your favorite seasons or maybe a few of your favorite memories either on haxball or on SPHB?

Prizzle: Most probably come from earlier seasons because you had more original players and personas. Past 10 seasons or so you just see a lot of people trying to act like others. Winning a >d2 cup on multi was pretty fun, dont think anybody but maybe NJ knew it was me. The old isinar rage threads were great, bobcar, stuff you dont really see now. I did really enjoy making a cup run with the gunmen though, came in as a complete underdog and won like 7 elimination games. Also when we had streams is where a lot of the great memories were and the draft used to be something to tune in to see.

BreadMan: If you could change one thing to help improve the league, what would it be?

Prizzle: To improve the league its probably pick your own teams.. but that doesnt cater to most people so I cant say its necessarily an improvement. The league is just going to continue its decrease, we have a nice pop with a summer season but I wonder how next season is going to look. Really I've thought about it recently and the league died because of 3 things IMO: 1. Being afraid of change, 2. Loss of casual playerbase, 3. TT as commish. The league never took a stance on players refusing to play for teams/colluding themselves to teams. Essentially it was allowed for certain players. Probably should have taken the spacebounce route and put an end to that shit.

BreadMan: Your GM is also co-commish for SPHB(commishball). How do you think he's done so far running the league?

Prizzle: I think he puts a lot of effort and time in and I think most of us appreciate him for that. I don't think he was dealt the best hand and has a lot on his plate. DJ has to handle a lot of the day to day stuff since hash is moreso for decision making and less day to day functions. The rulebook probably needs to get revisited because it has been enforced liberally. The staplers situation was a disaster, too many trades getting reversed... Everyone on staff just needs to get on the same page. They also need to clean up the staff because theres a couple of people on there who have no business being on there.

BreadMan: What are your thoughts on the league using a salary cap on how teams are put together sort of how PHL ran things?

Prizzle: Won't work unless the league really takes a stance on peoples availability they sign up for and people refusing to play for certain teams. Was a pretty cool system though and I did like that PHL had a mid season draft vs being able to sign up for free agency like.. 2 weeks after the draft.

BreadMan: Thanks again for doing this interview. Is there anything you'd like to say to the dozens of people reading this, or any shout outs you want to give?

Prizzle: Look out for my upcoming book on amazon - The Complete Guide Of How To Play Mid. If I am able to complete it the next volume will be on GK. Shout out to the Sacramento Storm, I founded that team so I'm going to adopt you guys as my second d2 team I'm rooting for behind the seals. Also carlitos looking good at mid. Shoutout to Jeremy lin.

TeamDescriptionWeek By Week Ranking ====================
Bubble took this team from worst to first over the course of a season. Now, given the fact that he received some solid picks last season and was able to turn those draftees into a strong team of mostly cancer free players. Nap and spart have played well in their few games together. recks is doing great things at mid, and wck is a no brainer for GKOTY. Add feneria as their newly added fifth man and you have your current favorite for playoffs. Weeks 1+2 - First
Week 3       - Second
Week 4       - Second
Week 5       - Fourth

The Storm finish the season on a six game win stream, although they played mostly weaker opponents. Their most recent loss could be cause for concerns however, as the Dinobots beat them 2-1 in overtime. Carlitos, slap, and leverage are doing great things right now. Tavares self proclaimed himself as the team's fifth man, but he'd be the starting gk for me right now. Weeks 1+2 - Second
Week 3       - Third
Week 4       - Third
Week 5       - Second
==============
Chinni turned this team around from a Maxie/Drag manipulated forfeit machine into a top 3 team .... in two weeks. He churned the roster like crazy, getting picks, getting d1 calibre players, and played 13 games over 8 gamedays. He, Dzeko, and Em seem to be their starting fwds, but I'd consider moving Yigi to forward and starting irving in net if he's available. Yahoo is not a bad option in place of Em either.Weeks 1+2 - Fourth
Week 3       - Fifth
Week 4       - Sixth
Week 5       - First
==============
GatZ Beez or GatZ forfeits? Yeah I've never seen a team start the season 9-1, absolutely tearing it up, only to go 2-9 the remainder of the season with four forfeit losses (and their two wins as forfeit wins). GatZ and Disturb looked unstoppable, and I don't know what happened that changed this team's rhythm. If they can get back into it in the playoffs they're not bad contenders still. They have the roster to take D2, but do they have the availability and bounce back.Weeks 1+2 - Third
Week 3       - First
Week 4       - First
Week 5       - Third

Raptor oh raptor. For a team whose GM and AGM both missed the draft, you have done surprisingly well. Broly and sk1lled are having the best seasons of their careers right now, and I think you guys are just as much in these playoffs as anyone else. Weeks 1+2 - Fifth
Week 3       - Fourth
Week 4       - Fourth
Week 5       - Fifth
==============
Hat tip to Gleg. He revived the Supreme Sluts and created a team that would often have 8 players available come game time. I see great things from him in upcoming seasons as a GM. As for this team's lineup, they weren't necessarily a team of superstars but they did enough to have some great wins over this season. Weeks 1+2 - Eighth
Week 3       - Sixth
Week 4       - Seventh
Week 5       - Seventh
==============
I honestly expected this team to do much better. The Pups had the most picks in the draft, in addition to a very strong roster for most of the season. Rfranklinz did well as expected, logitech put on a ROTY worthy performance in europing, but beyond that the team just couldn't find the right fits. It could come down to burr's inexperience at GM, but I think the problem lies more with the individual efforts made by each player, or lack thereof.Weeks 1+2 - Seventh
Week 3       - Seventh
Week 4       - Fifth
Week 5       - Sixth
==============
No one wants to be on a losing team. Its tough, it's not fun, and no one wants to play for your team. That being said, other teams were able to create great things from nothing. Gleg turned around the last place Sluts, Gatz had no picks in the draft and created a former number one team. TDA was dealt a rough hand given that he had no picks this season, but he also didn't do enough to keep the team active. 12 forfeits out of their last fourteen games is just something no one wants to see. I'd advice everyone in the league to look back at this and learn from it more than anything. TDA was making constant cuts and signings, but it really came down to the players choosing not to show for his team.Weeks 1+2 - Sixth
Week 3       - Eighth

Playoff Predictions with the Season 26 New England Keys

Featuring members of the Season 26 D2 Champions New England Keys. Atticus and Gatz will cover Division 1, eliminating their bias towards D2 match ups. Similarly, tgfp and DJ will cover Division 2 rather than Division 1. Thank you to tgfp, Atticus, and Gatz for participating in this. Also a shout out to other team members: wck, Real, anon, and y. Your Season 26 NE Keys.

Division 1

Relegation Series: Toronto Turtles vs Elite Four
Atticus: I like the Turtles in this matchup. The Turtles have the stronger overall lineup with the addition of Stapler and Ass Slapper. Luciano hasnít put together the strongest lineup to compete at the d1 level this season and will be back to the drawing board again. The Turtles offense will prove to be too much for the defensively minded Elite Four squad.
GatZ Chamberlain: The relegation series should be interesting as it could go either way. Elite 4 looks like a very solid team for d2 standards led by veteran Pavelski along with Flare and Run. Who the 4th player ends up being could be the edge they need to stay in d1 and take the best of 3 here. However, Luciano is infamous for starting himself over better players as he's done pretty much for his whole career and if that happens again it looks like he might be back where he belongs in D2. The Turtles are also a very solid team but will depend on who their lineup ends up being as they go 6 deep (minus ass slapper and stapler). I'll give the edge to Toronto here taking the best of 3 in 3 games.

Play in Series: New England Keys vs Nemea Lions
Atticus: From top to bottom, the Keys have the better overall roster which gives them the upper hand in this play-in series. With Prizzle and -09 holding the back end, the Keys offense should be able to create multiple chances. I predict the Keys to advance to the next round.
GatZ Chamberlain: Looking at the rosters, the Keys are clearly the more talented team here and I expect them to not have much trouble with the Lions. The Keys top 6 outside of prizzle and khaled are all very talented and I expect them to show that in this series. Realistically, the Keys are the darkhorse of d1 and people should not be surprised at them making a deep run. Keys in a sweep.

Semifinals: Play-In Winner vs Angry Unicornz
Atticus: The matchup of the preemptive cup favorites and the experienced and deep play-in team. As many are hoping to just give the Unicorns the cup now, Iím going to distance myself from this idea and predict that the New England Keys will advance to the finals. I like the moves DJ Khaled has made in turning the Keys from D2 cup winners into D1 cup contenders. Although Myles, Lindros, Geoff, and Pixels is a most formidable foe, the Keys are as experienced and able to match-up with this Unicorns team.
GatZ Chamberlain: This will be the first tightly contested series that could go either way. However, if you look at the roster of the Unicornz it's going to be hard to bet against them because of a guy named Lindros. You add in all-time forwards like Negbro and Pixels and any GK could look good behind those 3. However, the Keys have the talent to pull off the upset with castoff Nantes looking to get his revenge against his former buttbuddies with the help of Wayne, Red, Stoch, 09 and Shott. I'll take the smart money and side with Lindros and the Unicorns in 4 games.

Semifinals: Tiananmen Squares vs Austin Gunmen
Atticus: With the addition of CompASS to the Gunmen starting lineup, I expect the Gunmen to win this toss-up series. The Squares are defensively sound as shown by their 2-1 victory over the Unicorns; however, CompASS makes the Gunmen lineup more offensively creative. El Jefe is also playing great haxball and I expect him and the rest of the Gunmen will keep constant pressure on the Squares.
GatZ Chamberlain: Here is another great matchup that can go either way. The perennial playoff team Squares are the underdog here however as the Gunmen have been dominant in the regular season. Diablo, Jefe, Fruit and Compass might be the best 4 man lineup in SPHB today. The question for the Squares will be their lineup and how they plan to effectively get the most out of their top 5 in Undr, Hash, T90, Star and TGFP. Unfortunately one of them will have to bench and that decision might be what decides the series here. It's hard to say the Squares are underdogs with that top 5 but the Gunmen have to be the favorites. If there were spreads or betting odds the Squares would be a very popular pick, however considering there is not anything of the sort, you have to go with Austin in 4 games.

Division 2

Play in Series: Gatz Beez vs Martian Dinobots
DJ Khaled: Now on paper this is a clear win for the Beez, but the Beez team hasn't played together in - count it - six games. Disturb and Gatz are a great forward pair, and I really like feli at mid and foxi in net as well. Maybe sub in guid or coco instead of feli and Foxi. They were crushing teams in the beginning of the season, so they need to bring that same fire these playoffs. The Dinobots are not to be underestimated, however. Their best starting lineup, in my opinion, is Broly and sk1lled up top, y at mid, and Raptor in net. Now I know jcond has played gk the most for this team, but the addition of y bumps Raptor out of that mid spot. This is going to be a close series. I got the Beez winning 2 games to 1.
tgfp: beez over dinobots.

Semifinals: Play-In Winner vs Seal Team Six
DJ Khaled: As I said previously, I have the Beez winning the play in series. So that puts them in the spot to take on the number one team. I really think that if the Beez can pull it together enough, the only team that can beat them is the Pixies. That being said, I just don't see a cancer free series. The Seals have the regular season series edge 2 games to 1, with the final game being a 7-1 blowout. They have great chem right now with recks, spart, nap, and wck in net...these guys are going to the finals unless one of their starters can't make it. Seals in 4 games.
tgfp: seals over beez.

Semifinals: Sacramento Storm vs Manic Pixie Dream Girls
DJ Khaled:  This is honestly the finals matchup for me. The Pixies have Dzeko, Chinni, and Yigi. Their fourth player is a missing link but it's clear that these three can work together as well as anyone. The Storm have Slap, Carlitos, and Leverage, along with possibly Thunder or Tavares as the fourth man. They may not be the big there powerhouse of the Pixies, but they have a group of four who work well together. Carlitos is playing amazing right now, as is Chinni. This series isn't just going to five games. It's going to multiple overtime games as well. Think Keys vs Pixies Season 26 finals. Both these teams could win it. I have to pick the Pixies though. 3-2 in overtime.
tgfp: pixies over storm. na DJ lOl. im tired dude not doing write ups sorry.

We will not be doing the finals for each division. You'll just have to wait and see what actually happens for yourself. Best of luck to all playoff teams from the Season 26 New England Keys. jkl jkl jkl jkl

When the fuck did I self proclaim my fucking self as the 5th man youre all fucking illiterate. Someone legit jist nominated me for the god damn 5th man award and I told them to fuck off Ive never benched a minute. Legit the only reason you think this is because apparently I cant go to fucking Florida for a fucking week and miss a few games jesus.

Also, your GKer of the week didnt even start half the games this week I dont think. I legit started every game and then subbed Bread in for me because Im a nice person. Never knew self proclamation was benching myself so another player could get some playtime instead of sitting on the bench and watching other people play haxball over them. Perhaps that's why everyone wants to start on a team these days because youre all a bunch of heartless statwhores who stay in 8-0 shitfests to boost your stats. Pussies.

./end rant you're still all illiterate so I dont you even read what I said @DJ Khaled but yah Im the starting GK Tuesday (or am I?There may he a surprise challenge to get to the Finals).

So you're not sure which position you are playing for your team because you could play gk or mid/fwd depending where your team needs you... 5th man...

This is what happens when you make people who don't know enough about d1 & have extreme biases against certain players as columnists. At least if you're going to make him a reporter, make sure his bias isn't so blatantly clear LOL. Gatz, you didn't even look at Run's minutes. He's showed for 2 games, and then stopped showing (look at replays for once maybe and you'll see he wasn't on the bench either.) Team's led by Pav, Flare, and I but nice try to put yourself on a higher pedestal, maybe if you watched some replays you'd learn a thing or two about this league lmfao. Also, I haven't been a gm that long and the only season people disputed me starting was last ssn, so again you're a clueless columnist. I also have no idea who you're alluding to about putting myself over better players this ssn. You didn't even name a 4th one.

You're an oaf, GatZ.

The entire magazine is aids, you all need to stop taking it so serious. They give Bubblegum credit for the roster that Drag and Maxie stacked for a guaranteed cup, nuff said. Go outside and get some Vitamin D, maybe that'll help you not take everything so fucking serious that it becomes detrimental to the league. (of course the most no life person on this site down voted this post @stapler I'm killed lmfao)

Well @NAP seeing as that message took all of 2 minutes to type on my phone with no autocorrect probably @some stupid time in the morning...and you had to wait til the bottom of my post to say something about it means I did a pretty damn good job, thank you very much.

...Speaking of illiterate, take the I out and you'd have a perfectly sexy and sensible sentence. Ah, alliteration is fun. Haxball is life.
